About Me

Currently, I work as an Assistant Professor of Strategy at the Rotterdam School of Management. Previously, I have been working as Assistant Professor of Strategy at Copenhagen Business School. Also, I have spent a number of years working as Strategy and Management Consultant. I like to both consult and teach executives and students on such topics as ‘Learning to Cooperate’, ‘Managing Acquisitions’, and ‘Routine and Capability Development inside Firms’.

These professional interests are closely linked with my personal interests: I am fascinated by Buddhist principles of how to leverage my experiences to improve my personality as a human being. As the Dalai Lama said: “We should leverage our intelligence and knowledge to initate change from within in order to develop a good heart”.

While pondering over these issues and enjoying life, I ski, play golf, practice yoga and play the tenor and bari sax and clarinet. As for music, I am particularly obsessed with jazz music, in particular bebop (Charlie Parker is amazing, e.g. here with Dizzy Gillespie), cool jazz (check out the great bari player Gerry Mulligan with 'Walking shoes'), bossa nova (Stan Getz' songs are super, e.g. Desafinado!) and the more recent funk (check out Dave Stewart's guitar solo with Candy Dulfer in 'Lily was here'). As I find myself learning every day, I am excited about this journey called life and hope this website helps share some of these professional and personal experiences with you!

A collaborative greet,

Koen Heimeriks
